Wishing everyone a very happy Valentines Day 2012.
Pete and I decided not to do the retail frenzy and buy overpriced flowers and chocolates this year but rather to wait until life has settled down a little and we will go out for lunch or dinner with our boys.
Noah wasn't so sure about this so I decided to pull out my sweet treat bags and make some little gifts for him and his teachers. I searched and searched everywhere for the heart shaped lollies that have the little messages on them but could only find round ones that were similar. I'm convinced next time I go shopping I'll find the ones I was after as I don't need them now!
The toppers as so fast and easy to make. You just need three punches - the scallop circle, 1 3/8" circle and three heart punch. The scallop is punched in Real Red, the circle in Whispher White and the hearts are in Real Red and Melon Mambo. Simply the put together with snail adhesive. Being me I decided they needed a little something more so using me Signo Gel Pen I outlined the hearts and popped dots on the scallop edges.
The lollies were thankfully easy to put into the bags and the toppers were then attached with a mini glue dot.
Now for the card. Last year in the summer mini catalogue they released a stamp set called Love Defined which I simply loved and decided to use to make my cards again this year. I actually saw a card similar to this one which is where I got my inspiration but can't find it now to link to.
The base is Whisper White and using Pear Pizzazz I stamped the heart flowers for the background. To get a slightly lighter effect I inked my stamp and then stamped it once onto scrap paper before stamping it onto the card base. Using the same stamp I used the Pear Pizzazz, Real Red and Melon Mambo markers to colour individual parts of the stamp which I then stamped on more Whisper White cardstock. I used my scallop circle and 1 3/8" circle punches to punch out this image before sticking it together.
The next part was punching the edge of a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Pinking Hearts border punch and adding some grosgrain ribbon to the top edge.
To put it altogether I cut and attached some Pear Pizazz dsp to the bottom of the card, added the bordered piece and then using mini glue dots attached the scalloped part. Last but not least was a bow made out of the same ribbon.
Simply and easy for a change!
I hope you had a lovely Valentines Day.
Enjoy - Julie
